We have ended another great week in second grade! We continued to build classroom community during morning meeting and closing circle with new songs, games, and activities. Building routines, talking about rules, and creating a strong classroom community is important work during the beginning of the school year and sets students up for success! Our Hopes and Dreams for second grade have been published in our room and we've finished creating our classroom rules! Our final list of rules include:
1. Be safe.
2. Be nice.
3. Take care of our school.
4. Do your best!
Ask your second grader about:
*the math game 5-in-a-row!
*what books they chose for their book box
*their writer's notebook
*an interesting fact they learned from our immigration unit
*using the Smartboard
Our first homework packet was sent home Friday and will be due next Friday. Please email or send in a note with any question or concerns. The goal of homework is for second graders to practice skills at home and learn the routines and responsibilities of having homework for future grades. For those interested in additional homework there will be optional online activities coming soon. Until then, you may want to check out the "Online Reading and Math Activities" page on the left side of our classroom blog!
Enjoy the nice weather this weekend!
