Choosing Good-Fit Books

We started our day today learning about choosing "good-fit books" for Read to Self time.  Children learned that choosing a "good-fit" book is similar to finding a pair of shoes that fit!  We choose shoes that have a purpose (for running, dancing, etc.), that fit our interests (snow boots or soccer cleats), and we talked about how each of us may wear a different size shoe.  Our "I-PICK" chart helped us understand how to go about choosing a book that fits like a good pair of shoes!
  • Purpose- "Why do I want to read this?"
  • Interest: "Am I interested in this book?"
  • Comprehend: "Do I understand this book?"
  • Know: "Do I know how to read most of the words?"
In other news, we had art, reviewed writing uppercase letters in handwriting, and we completed pages in our math practice book.  It was also a parent lunch day at Simonds today!

Look for our next blog post at the end of the week!
